2 month update

Wow. So much has changed since the arrival of our little boy.

Milestones: No more sleepless nights! YAY! Zach started sleeping a seven hour stretch a mere three days before I returned to work. What a blessing! He is now in a great routine. He gets a bath at 7:15, eats, then goes to bed by 8pm. He usually wakes up around 3 or 3:30am to eat, then falls back asleep until 5:30 or 6:30, eats again, then falls asleep until we get him up for daycare. This past Sunday night he surpised me with a 9

hour stretch (although, I must admit, he did wake up at 2:00am, but he merely grunted for a few minutes and then fell back asleep). I finaly feel rested.

Zach started smiling this month. It started off slow, but now he grins much more often and seems to be in a better mood overall (at least during the day). He coos more often and has started squealing with delight when he's really happy. He recently started a nightime fussy routine. He tends to get fussy right around 6:00-6:30 until bedtime (although bathtime is usually spared from crying). We've tried setting an earlier bedtime, but this doesn't seem to be the issue...he'll just cry until 8pm. Nothing much soothes him during this time, not even the proven staples! I've read that fussiness can sometimes be expected in the early evening in babies his age, so we just chalk it up to that! The only sad thing is that Adam gets home right around 6:30, so he doesn't get much happy time with Zach in the evenings.

Zach HATES tummy time. He has such strong legs and neck, but refuses to work those arm muscles to build his core! I hate watching him cry, but we just keep working on it. He will only go about 1-2 minutes at the most before the fussing starts. I've tried the boppy, I've tried the excersize ball, putting him on my tummy and nothing seems to work...Any suggestions?

Daycare Update: We decided to stay with our original daycare! We may switch him in August once he is a little older and more mobile. Zach is doing wonderfully at Creative Wonders. He always seems content/happy when I go to pick him up. Our neighbors just started their little boy there this week, so I also feel good that I have more eyes watching out for him.
