Back to Work and Daycare

Zach's first day at Daycare

I went back to work today and dropped Zach off for the first time at "Creative Wonders" a local daycare. It was so difficult to leave him, and I wept like a baby walking out of the facility. He, however...was perfectly content. Ms. Betty had his crib all ready for him with his name on it, a mobile and an aquarium toy. She picked him up and took him around to meet all the other infants. Zach is the youngest baby at the Daycare right now. There are 10 infants and most of them are somewhat mobile. They keep them in the infant room until they are about 14 months old.

It is a bright, colorful place with murals on the walls and fun carpeting. I made Adam check on him at lunch and he came back with a very positive report. Zach was content in a baby swing that in Adam's words was "flying." Apparently the swing was going very very fast, but Zach was enjoying it. When I picked him up in the afternoon he was sitting in a bouncer on the floor just looking around. I asked if he cried much today and the staff replied "not at all." The only time he cried was when he woke up from his nap and wanted to be out to play. This made me feel so much better.

In other related news:

I received a phone call from a different day care center today that we were on the waiting list for. This daycare is across the street from Adam's office and convenient for both of us...I just don't know that I get the same warm fuzzy's as I do with Creative Wonders. They have 16 infants and the room stays dark most of the time for naps with only a small play area. The facility is part of the local hospital though, so I know the care is top notch...its just not as bright and cheerful. I'm not sure what we are going to do!

Trust your instincts. If you get warm & fuzzy feelings where you are, then stay. Warm & fuzzy is the goal.
