Ohhh, I wish I could say that I cherished the days that my little man was an "official" newborn, but I'm honestly glad he's now an infant! The star toy on the playmat that he coo'd at and longed for has been replaced by a LOVE for his mommy! He loves attention now, and looks to make sure I'm there singing to him, walking him, and playing with his cute little toes. Zach is growing by leaps and bounds every day and it is so fun to watch!
Milestones: The greatest milestone that Zach hit this month was starting to laugh. Adam and I get such a kick out of him when he gets the giggles. We love those big gummy smiles. He is also talking up a storm...Who knows what he is saying, but he enjoys having a good 10 minute conversation with me several times a day. Zach will even sing with me...his favorite song right now is "The Wheels on the Bus" and the "Itsy Bitsy Spider."
Although he can't quite figure out how to roll over from his tummy to his back yet, he does roll from his back to his side, stopping just short of rolling over to his tummy. He still hates tummy time, but will endure it for a few minutes now before he starts screaming. It is actually quite funny to watch him protest it so much, he simply face plants and refuses to even turn his head to the side while screaming into the mat we put him on. Zach's daycare is doing 30 minutes a day of tummy time with him, and his report always says something about how he gets "SO ANGRY" when they put him on his tummy! I like that they are the ones that have to listen to him scream through it...better them than me!
Zach has also started grasping at toys this month. He doesn't quite know what to do with them, and simply holds on or bats his hands at the toys in his bouncer, but he is aware that he is making them move! His daycare says he loves the kick n play mat they have that lights up when he kicks the mat. They told us that his little legs just go and go.
While Zach hasn't quite started to put "everything" in his mouth, he has discovered his hands are quite tasty! He sucks on them all the time now. We think he may become a thumb sucker, and both Daddy and I are dreading it! He never really took to a pacifier, but has recently discovered his little thumbs are just delicious. I wish he would have taken a pacifier because at least we could take that away when he outgrows it....you can't take away his thumbs! I guess I should feel assured that Adam has some good connections for the future orthodontic work our son will have to get done if he continues to suck on his thumbs.
As for me:
While I wanted to become a mom, I struggled enjoying the first six weeks with my son. The sleep deprivation, the non-responsiveness of little Zach, and the adjustment to the change in my past lifestyle tempered my enjoyment of being a new mom. I can honestly say that I am really starting to enjoy it now! I have bonded with my guy, and him with me, and we are soaking up every joyous minute.

Aww. I'm so happy for you. I think the beginning is challenging for everyone. I know it was for me. Zach's picture is beautiful. His eyes are so vividly blue and alert. His little lips look kissable too. Enjoy, Mommy! And tell Adam I said he has a handsome son.
